Our Fancy Schmancy Apples

WHAT IS A FANCY SCHMANCY APPLE?
Kefi Treats’ signature delight is our Fancy Schmancy Apple. We’ve taken an ordinary apple and given it some bling! Hugely popular in Canada and the America, they’re known as “caramel” apples.
We added chocolate and added some local flavours and toppings like classic Aussie hundreds and thousands and coconut for our lamington Fancy Schmany Apple. Other flavours include Roasted Peanuts, Natural Almonds, Pecan Pie, Lamington Organic Coconut, edible fancy lace, chocolate shapes, chocolate swishes and many more custom designs.
TOFFEE VS CARAMEL
We’ve designed our handmade salted caramel to be easy to slice and share. Because our caramel is so smooth, it’s much easier to share than the traditional hard toffee/candy apples.
THREE schmancy layers
We start with a fresh, crispy apple.
- Firstly, we dip it into our handmade silky salted caramel (our own recipe)
- Secondly, we coat it in smooth chocolate
- Finally, we finish off with decadent toppings
Fancy Schmancy Apple Faqs
Please check ingredients on individual apple labels for specific allergy warnings.
ANAPHYLAXIS ADVICE: All our Kefi Treats Fancy Schmancy Apples are handmade and we have flavours that include gluten, peanuts and other tree nuts. We use the same equipment for production of all our apples therefore may contain traces of peanuts and other nuts and food colouring.
At our pop-up stores, please ask staff before handling products or tasting samples if you have anaphylaxis allergy.
Most of our apple designs are gluten free. Some flavours, such as “Not Your Momma’s Applie Pie” include gluten flour.
Our Fancy Schmancy Oranges are gluten free and dairy free. Our oranges have no added sugar and aren’t candied – they’re like orange chips.
See ALLERY ADVICE for more details.
Our apples are best eaten within a few days of purchase. They can last longer than the “best before” date if stored well, especially during winter and apple season.
We recommend storing in the fridge if you’re keeping it for more than a few days. DON’T FORGET to take it out of the fridge a few hours before eating to allow the caramel to soften to room temperature.
If you have a craving for one or a few apples, visit one of our pop-up stores or craft and design market stalls. You can even have a taste before you buy. Follow us on socials to see where our next stall will be.

Heritage apple trees (or heirloom, as known outside of Australia) are apple varieties & breeds that originated before 1951. Most modern apple varieties you find in larger supermarket chains have originated in the 1970s. Some of our suppliers are orchards that are part of a world wide network which is conserving antique apple varieties and protecting them from extinction. For a farm to be certified organic, the farmers and food producers grow and produce food without using synthetic chemicals (such as pesticides or artificial fertilisers). They do not use genetically modified (GM) components or expose food to irradiation.
Heritage apples may cost more than regular varieties but can also have a different flavour that beautifully complements our caramel and chocolate. Although we predominantly use Granny Smith apples, we sometimes use heritage apples when seasonally available.
We choose only the best varieties that complement our caramel. Granny Smith apples are a perfect match to our caramel. When seasonally available, we can use organic, rare and heritage apples for your catering orders. We can source some boutique varieties (that you can’t find in supermarkets) such as organic Akane, Sterma Pippin and Crofton, right through to everyday Pink Lady, Fuji and of course Granny Smith.
